Festivals – what’s hot this Summer!

For many the arrival of Summer means just one thing: festivals! Whether you are an ardent music fan or just enjoy the vibe of festival season, festivals are great fun and a time to chill out and relax.

And while a festival provides an opportunity to get away from it all for a few days, finding yourself with no loo roll, covered in mud and soaking wet is likely to test the patience of even the most chilled-out reveller. With this is mind we have come up with a list of must-take items…

1.Ticket
2. ID
3. Cash and debit card
4. Tent
5. Sleeping bag
6. Torch and batteries
7. Mobile phone
8. Toilet roll
9. Antibacterial gel
10. Tooth brush and toothpaste
11. Towel
12. Wet wipes
13. Sun cream
14. Sun hat
15. Bin liners (for sitting on, a makeshift poncho and dirty clothes!)

FestivalWhen it comes to dressing for festivals the look is chilled out, but most definitely fashion conscious. Dressing in layers is a great idea, especially when it comes to the changeable British climate. Hot looks for this festival season include Kimono jackets, which are perfect for evenings, crop tops teamed with denim cut-offs and print dresses. Ideally choose clothes in fabrics that will not crease and that can be mixed with other items, for example, an Aztec print kimono can be paired with shorts and vest top as well as a skater dress.

For festival footwear, the must-have item is of course, wellies! As every seasoned festival -goer knows, even with forecasts predicting glorious sunshine, rain and mud can strike!

At Shoe Zone our range of wellies are perfect for festival fun, check out our black wellies with multi-coloured stars (£12.99) or to be on trend and practical, invest in our red ankle wellingtons (£12.99) which look super-cute when teamed with a short skater dress.

A pair of canvas pumps is also perfect festival footwear, lightweight, versatile and inexpensive, check out our turquoise canvas hi-tops (£12.99). The colour is perfect for Summer and the hi-top style is bang on-trend.  To work this season’s trend for all things floral, add a pair of navy floral canvas pumps (£7.99) to your festival kit for a cool look.

While being prepared for rain and mud is essential, hopefully the sun will shine and you will get a chance to relax and soak up some rays.  With space in back packs at a premium, look to pack footwear that is light and lies flat, such as the black beaded ankle strap sandal (£9.99).The wrap fastening and metal embellishments is perfect for an on-trend, edgy festival look.

Also great for a lazy Summer day is our white elasticated diamante toepost sandal (£12.99), with just the right amount of bling they look great with shorts and dresses.

Hello KittyOf course, festivals are becoming much more family friendly and there are even festivals designed with children in mind. If you are planning to take your family on a festival experience this Summer, clever packing is a must. Travelling light when children are involved is usually impossible, so pack smart by taking clothes that aren’t bulky. While it might rain, it probably will not be cold so a thin waterproof that can be rolled will usually be enough to keep the kids dry. Wellingtons are a must for rainy days; our range includes patterned, plain and even character ones such as Hello Kitty for the girls (£12.99) and Moshi Monsters (£9.99) for the boys. Rather than packing trainers and sandals, opt for a pair of canvas pumps, they will go with jeans, dresses or shorts. We like our boys’ camouflage canvas pumps (£4.99) and girls’ denim canvas shoes with floral bow (£4.99).

Whichever festival you end up at this Summer, we hope you have fun!
