When you think of going on holiday with the kids, the last thing you expect to be able to do is pack light, if it is not multiple changes of clothes to accommodate ice cream spills and sun cream smears, its games, books and toys to keep them occupied while on the go!
However, we have come up with some simple tips to help you save space (and your back), and help you to pack light on your next holiday!
Roll your clothes: At first, it may feel wrong to start rolling your freshly ironed clothes but it is a foolproof way to save space in your case and it prevents creasing! Win –win!
Plan your (and the kids’) wardrobe: Before you pack anything, lay it all out and work out what goes with what, while you’ll probably need a clean t-shirt every day you can usually get two days wear from shorts, so match two t-shirts to every one pair of shorts. Take sandals that look great on a night out when teamed with a maxi-dress and that go with shorts on the beach. We like Truffle silver sparkly diamante sandals (£16.99), the flattering silver colour looks great against all skin tones and the diamante panel is perfect for adding some summer glitz.
Get the kids involved: If your children are still very young you will still need to take things such as a buggy and car seat, if they are a bit older get them involved by telling them they can pack a backpack each with books, toys and games for the journey. Be tough, if it does not fit in the bag or if they cannot lift the bag once packed, then it doesn’t go! When it comes to holidays and kids, they just love to play, so pack versatile footwear such as our boys’ Thomas the Tank Engine moulded clogs (£9.99) or our girls flower detail flip-flops (£3.99), which are easy to slip on and off and keep their feet protected.
Know your destination: Do a little research before you go, do you need to take a hairdryer? Are towels provided? Not having to pack these things can save you tons of space! Check also, if you need to dress up for in the evening, if so, you will need to pack dresses and accessories. Again, make your accessories work hard by opting for a bag, belt and jewellery that work with a number of outfits. Shoe wise, check out our cream glitter toe post mules (£6.99), with the bow and diamante charm detailing they add a touch of glamour whether dressed up or dressed down.
Do the laundry: While doing chores is the last thing any of us wants to do while on holiday, by taking a small tube of travel wash you can wash swimwear and underwear in the bathroom sink, while not the most glamorous of holiday tasks, it will mean you can pack less!
Of course, the holiday begins as soon as you lock the front door, so travel in comfort by opting for a pair of nude ballerinas with diamante detailing (£12.99), not only do they hit a number of this season’s key trends, but they look great with jeans, shorts and even dresses for a casual look!
Wherever your holiday adventure takes you, have a fantastic time!
