Since the age of 15 I have been a massive fan of Formula One, now a 30-something married mother of 1 I don’t get to enjoy my sport quite as much as I used to.
This year rather than go to the race weekend at Silverstone my lifelong friend Jayne and I decided to pay a visit to the post-race F1 testing session and experience a bit more luxury than we are used to, by staying over in a Snooze Box.
When my colleague Charlotte suggested that we each choose a pair of shoes to take to the circuit and put them to the test we were both unsure what to go for… As it is summer do we opt for some cute sandals or knowing Silverstone do we go for some practical flat boots???
As veterans of the circuit we decided it would be a good plan to walk around the whole circuit to take in the views of the 2014 F1 cars at every possible angle. For those of you who don’t know, the Silverstone track is 3.6miles long. We only took delivery of the shoes the week before we went so hadn’t had the opportunity to break them in. Fortunately for us our canvas shoes did not let us down.
Towards the end of the day we had booked a pit lane walk where we had the opportunity to get a bit closer to the action and have a few pictures with our favourite team cars. Our canvas certainly didn’t look out of place – funky as well as durable.
Our day was completed with a lovely dinner overlooking the circuit, far removed from the camping in tents and cars from previous visits.
Jayne found her slip on canvas particularly comfortable and had them on again when we went for breakfast the next day, (she has even refused to give me them back!) We enjoyed a rather large cup of coffee sitting with our feet up, on a balcony overlooking the circuit watching Lewis Hamilton flash by in his Mercedes…
Most women go away to a spa for the day to get away from the daily grind, Jayne and I would rather go to Silverstone to unwind any day.
As our canvas proved practical and stylish I’m sure we will be investing in Shoe Zone shoes for another visit very soon.
