Here at Shoe Zone, all of our team are like family. We wanted to share with you a little insight into our lovely team, give you more information about a day in the life at Shoe Zone!
This month we got the all the goss from Zena Foster, who is Marketing Distribution Manager.
How long have you been a member of the Shoe Zone team?
34 years.
What is your job title, and what does this involve?
I am Marketing Distribution Manager. I oversee the general running of the Marketing Distribution Department, where we pick, pack and distribute Promotion, Display and equipment to all the stores.
What’s a typical day like?
A typical day involves gathering orders from the Com Zone system, (store till ordering service) these orders are then picked, packed and distributed from our main warehouse. Once these orders are complete and on their way. We then turn our attention to future promotions, each store is different in size and shape so these are picked individually to suit each store’s needs, and promotions can consist of many items not just posters. We also pick all equipment, display and promotion’s for new stores and our stores that need a refit.
How did you get into this career?
A Family member worked at Shoe Zone at the time.
What has been your highlight of working at Shoe Zone so far?
My greatest highlight was being nominated and winning employee of the month (although I was only doing my job)! What did you win I hear you ask? I received a certificate and the opportunity to help a local charity.
Wishes 4 Kids is a local Leicestershire based charity that provides the chance to make terminally ill children’s dreams come true. I was asked to go and help on one of their driving experiences at Donington Park.
During the day I helped the children and their family’s choose which cars they wanted to drive in and I also assisted with getting them in and out those cars. There was a wide selection of cars, the Police car was by far the most popular, with its flashing lights and siren.
This day was made wonderful by the children themselves, the smiles on their faces were amazing!
For just a short time the children and their families were given an opportunity to forget the traumas of a normal day.
A day I will never forget thanks to Shoe Zone.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to do your job?
Be prepared to work hard but enjoy it.
And finally, what’s your favourite thing about working at Shoe Zone?
The people I work with, not just the people in my own department but everyone I speak to on a daily basis.
