This is an employee volunteering initiative that provides opportunities for companies and their employees to make a real difference to communities in Leicestershire.
Staff from our Head Office and Warehouse have volunteered for various challenges including:
- A playground makeover at Herrick Playgroup
- Re-decorating the Coffee Bar at the Leicester MENCAP Society Centre
- Re-decorating the Hall at Helen Webb House, a Leicester based charity that helps people cope with cancer.
- A garden makeover at the Diversity Hub, local charity that works with young people to encourage conflict resolution, anti-bullying and community cohesion
Charnwood Primary School
As part of our links with the local community we are in regular contact with Charnwood Primary School which is situated close to our Head Office and Warehouse in Leicester.
From time to time a group of children from the school visit our Head Office and Warehouse where they participate in many activities.
During the academic year volunteers from Head Office will visit the school to take part in the Right to Read scheme which helps children to learn to read.
Leicester Marathon
In 2006 Shoe Zone sponsored the Leicester Marathon.
Anthony Smith (Chief Executive) and Zoe Ledgerwood (Manager of Shoe Zone Reading) took part and raised over £14,000 for the Meningitus Trust.
