Helfpul Pointers When Buying Shoes

Know what foot size you are. It sounds obvious, but even an adult's feet can spread or change size over time. Whether you are hitting the shoe shops on the high street or seeking shoes online, if you are unsure get your feet measured by a trained shoe fitter or consult many of the online shoe sizing tools available. The final and definitive measurement of your feet should be taken whilst you are standing, as feet spread when weight is placed upon them. Remember that many people have one foot larger than the other. When this is the case, your shoe size is usually gauged from the larger foot.

If you are planning a trip to the shoe shops, aim for an afternoon visit as this is the time of day when your feet swell to their largest.

Footwear made from natural materials such as leather and cotton allow your feet to breathe. Plastic and synthetic materials may make feet perspire, however, some synthetic materials, such as those used in sports footwear are chemically treated so that they enable feet to breathe.

If you are buying an outfit for a special occasion, such as a wedding, buy the shoes first. Your shoes will stay on your feet longer than your fancy hat sits on your head. If your shoes are comfortable, you will flash a genuine smile for the photographs!

Once you have purchased your shoes, look after them by applying shoe protector spray and retain their shape by inserting shoe trees. Wear new shoes in gradually around the house at first to ensure they do not pinch or chafe.
