Shoe Zone: Shoe Shop at EXMOUTH

It would have been nice if the 2 female sales persons at the till had stopped talking to each other whilst taking our payment. The only words spoken to us were " do you want a bag"

When checking out, the assistant asked if we were okay for a bag. I am in total agreement with not using plastic bags. But as it was an off the cuff visit as my son's school shoes had broken that day I didn't have a bag with me. I asked if there was a box, and the assistant rather begrudgingly said, I could see if there is one upstairs like it was too much effort. Why can't you have paper bags for such occasions, or keep some boxes to hand? I used to work in a shoe shop so I know how they work. It wasn't very welcoming. Next time I go to Exeter for shoes for my son.

The assistants were deep in conversation and I waited to be served. There were no other customers in the store so eventually I had to interrupt their chat to ask for what I wanted. It was with barely concealed reluctance that one of the assistants went off to find what I'd asked for. The shoes were sold to me, no please or thank you's. I was asked if I wanted a carrier bag and the shoes were then rammed into a very small bag for which I was charged 5p. As soon as I'd been handed my purchase they went straight back to their conversation. I thought their behaviour was very rude and certainly not a good example for your company. I should add that this is the first time I have ever been treated in such an offhand manner in that store, it has always been reasonable before.

Store clean and tidy, staff presentable, good range of styles and sizes, helpful assistance at till.
