Shoe Zone: Shoe Shop at WINSFORD

Dear Sir/Madam, At approximately 13.00 on Saturday April 29th I arrived at your Winsford store to purchase 3 pairs of shoes for my children. On entering the store my husband and I proceeded to the back of the store to look at the children's foot wear. After locating the children's shoes I then went to the till to ask the sales assistant if I could have the children's feet measured. The sales assistant got the foot measuring tool and literally dropped it on the floor by the seat next to my 5 year old, and without so much as a backwards glance at us proceeded to walk back to the till. At no point did she offer any assistance to measure my children’s feet, and just assumed that we knew what we were doing and left us to it. At first I decided to ignore this but after 5 minutes or so I approached the till point again to ask for assistance from the other sales assistant, with short grey hair and glasses. I said "excuse me, may I have some help please?" To which she replied in a aggressive manner. "What for? " I was absolutely appalled and disgusted by the way she spoke to me. Her tone and demeanour suggested that customers were an inconvenience to her and that we had simply interrupted her conversation with her colleague. I would also like to point out that the store was completely empty, we were the only customers in the store. Reluctantly she came and measured my sons feet. but she showed no patience with them, snapping at them to keep still and stand up straight while she measured them. In the past whenever we have had a measurement taken we have been offered advice on different styles and fits of particular shoes, However again after reading out the size on the machine the lady walked back to the till to continue her conversation, leaving us to fit our children’s shoes for ourselves. There were only a few shoes of each style on display and we had no choice but to approach the desk again to request our children’s sizes from out of the stock room. Each time I asked for assistance with sizes my request was met with an air of annoyance. I have been a retail manager for over 17 years and I can honestly say that if one of my team spoke to a customer in this manner, whether they were spending money or not, I would be taking disciplinary action. I have shopped in your store on many occasions for my 3 children. And the staff are usually very pleasant and a credit to your company. This is why I chose to always shop there even though I have a choice of Asda George, peacocks or the sports shop to purchase shoes for my children. After today’s experience I will not be shopping there again. These two members of staff really let your store and their team down, and would greatly benefit from being re-trained in customer service. I also suggest that if the store has CCTV that you verify my complaint and observe for yourself your staffs abysmal customer service.
